Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation Team Member Recognized as Energy Educator of the Year
Bob Pfeiffer recognized for long history of mentorship in energy-efficiency industry

MADISON, Wis. (May 18, 2011) - Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation (WECC), a national leader in the design and implementation of award-winning energy savings programs, is pleased to recognize Bob Pfeiffer for being named Energy Educator of the Year by the Energy Center of Wisconsin

Pfeiffer, a member of the WECC team for more than five years, has been critical in helping WECC deliver successful residential energy efficiency programs. His hands on, production based training approach for contractors and weatherization crews has helped build a knowledgeable and successful network of allies.

"WECC is proud to have Bob on our team and fortunate to have an educator of his caliber so closely involved in the training of our consultants, contractors, and other trade allies," said Mary Woolsey Schlaefer, WECC executive director. "Bob's passion for his work, first-hand knowledge of the industry, and practical advice from decades of experience in and around homes are unmatched."

Prior to his time at WECC, Pfeiffer worked as a weatherization professional for 29 years. He has helped improve the performance of existing homes through work as an insulator, energy auditor and crew supervisor for the Low-Income Weatherization Program, whole-house retrofit contractor, and building performance specialist. He currently is a Building Performance Institute (BPI) building analyst and shell specialist proctor.

"I've spent my entire career in the home performance and energy-efficiency industry, and take great pride in training its current and future professionals. It's an honor, and humbling, to be recognized for my contributions," said Pfeiffer. "My goal is to see the adoption of applied building science principles throughout all trades. This can be accomplished by properly training industry professionals, who become centers of change and transform the industry as new best practices are established."

The Energy Center of Wisconsin annually recognizes an individual as the Energy Center University's Energy Educator of the Year. Pfeiffer will be added to the Educators Hall of Fame which was established in 2008 to recognize and honor premiere educators in the energy-efficiency and residential building field. Past recipients include Dave Hepfler in 2010, Keith Williams in 2009, and Joe Nagan in 2008.
