The LEED certification process

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is recognized nationally as the benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. WECC's building planners understood that meeting LEED standards would enable us to build a facility that reflected our mission of environmental stewardship, and made the decision early in the design process to aim for LEED certification.

WECC's headquarters received LEED v2.1 Gold certification in November 2007. At the time of this award, WECC's building was one of only six new construction projects in the state to be awarded LEED Gold- or Platinum-level certification.
