Construction snapshots

WECC broke ground for its new green building in the University Research Park on June 14, 2006. The 34,000-square-foot facility earned a Gold-level certification through the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED) program as a result of its many high-performance features:

A solar electric system that generates 14% of the building's electricity
A solar hot water system that supplies 40% of domestic hot water
High efficiency heating and cooling systems
Optimal daylight for 75% of work spaces
ENERGY STAR qualified appliances and electronics
And more

Teamwork was an essential part of the project's success. WECC is excited to have joined forces with many innovative companies to build this showcase for energy efficiency, affordability, renewable energy and sustainable design.
